Amsterdam

Welcome to Amsterdam - the city of sin. Prepare to be shocked.
Everything that you are used to and comfortable about in normal society is reversed in Amsterdam. Anything that should be illegal is legal, you wonder how the Dutch can be such an affluent and successful society!
We left Edinburgh early in the morning on Wednesday and arrived in Amsterdam at about midday. We wondered around the red light district and were continually shocked by the live prostitutes in windows, sex shows and legal drug shops. The next day we did a hop on hop off canal cruise and visited the Anne Frank house where she hid during the war and some different museums. The canals are really beautiful and really tie the city together, there are also a lot of old buildings and churches. Last night we saw a comedy show called Boom Chicago which was all improvised and really funny. They kept including people from the audience and we narrowly missed public humilation a few times. We also went out for a Thai meal and paid about 10 times what we paid for it in Thailand. We had forgotten how expensive travelling is, Euros look a bit like monopoly money so they're kindof easy to spend!
This evening we are catching an overnight bus to Berlin. It has been beautiful weather today and we have been enjoying the sun (something we haven't seen much in Edinburgh). We only have a few days in Berlin and then flying to Rome.
